I did not use compressed air, or WD40, though by usiung the photos of where such things should be applied, I simply blew air from my mouth to each sie of the flash. All is fixed for now, and in the near future, I will give it a blow with compressed air, when I am able. I never thought to open the flash like that(nail under the flash WHILE the camera is on) I was always terrified to break my camera and this is my first real camera. I didn't know the flash locked when it was off. Anyway out of shear laziness and fear of a big repair bill I never took it in to a camera store. For some reason I googled it tonight, don't know why I didn't before. And as soon as my flash was open I saw the problem.....some dried play doh like stuff on the flash keeping it down. Two years without my camera......SMH. I used the little red straw and packed the fron of the camera with kitcken paper whcih quickly soaked up any excess WD 40.
