VPN Review - StrongVPN

(Note: For a comprehensive comparison of features and prices for different VPNs, click on this VPN and Proxy Comparison list.)

StrongVPN  is another great option for a VPN to provide you with security, privacy, and the freedom of uncensored internet. StrongVPN offers great service at competitive prices. At $7.95 if you pay for a monthly account or $4.58 if you pay for the year, StrongVPN is one of your more inexpensive options. If you want an inexpensive VPN provider that you can setup and forget, StrongVPN is a good way to go.

Website

I found that StongVPN's website is very user friendly. For me, I almost found it a bit limiting at times because of how well things are spelled out. I would compare it to Apple products. Great for user experience and function, but does not have every option available thrown at you. What does this mean? It means if you are a geek like me then you will probably want more geeky options and information; if however you are a normal computer user then you will find the experience pleasant and easy to use.

StrongVPN provides great software for Windows and Mac to make things as simple as possible. Simply install the software, type in your credentials and you are good to go.

If you are wanting to bypass the free software provided, StrongVPN offers instructions for setup for just about every operating system, phone, and internet device available. The instructions are thorough and easy to follow.

Service

If you still have questions after reading through the FAQ, you can contact StrongVPN with an email or ticket. The customer service that I experienced was very helpful and timely.

Servers

This is one area that sets StrongVPN apart from other VPN services I have used. Rather than providing you with a list of potential servers that you can use, you are provided with a single VPN server to use. You can however change which server you would like to use by going on the website and choosing another server for your account. This is very easy to do and provides you with ping speeds to help you know which server would work best where you are.

This method of course has advantages and disadvantages. The advantage would be the simplicity of setting up your account and forgetting about it. You don't have to waste time looking through all the different servers to find out which one is the fastest for you. This also means that customers will generally be spread out using servers that could potentially make the server you are on faster. The obvious disadvantage to this would be that if you do for some reason want to change servers, you will have to login to the website in order to do so.

Pros of StrongVPN:

  • A bit bothersome to change servers (requires logging into the website).
